Is Digital Waste Tracking mandatory in the UK?
Yes. The Environment Agency's Digital Waste Tracking platform is mandatory for all waste receivers in England from October 2026. Waste producers and carriers are expected to follow. WasteBolt is already connected to the EA's DWT platform and can submit movements in one click from existing WTNs.
Do I need to do anything extra to my existing WTNs before submitting?
Mostly no. WasteBolt checks each record against the DWT requirements and flags exactly what's missing with a clear ready/warning/error status. Common gaps are a missing vehicle registration, receiver email, or permit number — fields you may not have needed for paper WTNs. Fix them once in your pick-list and future records will be complete automatically.
What is a Waste Movement ID?
After a successful DWT submission, the EA's platform returns a unique Waste Movement ID (also called a wasteTrackingId). WasteBolt stores this against your record so you have a permanent, auditable link between your internal reference and the EA's system.
