Gate Hot Picks is the fastest possible way to log a genuinely repeat load — tap a card, enter today’s weight, and a complete WTN is created using everything else already saved on the template.

What Is Gate Hot Picks?

Hot Picks are simply your saved WTN Templates that cover a single waste stream — the loads you run so often they’re worth one tap. Open it from Gate → Gate Hot Picks, or the Gate Hot Picks Quick Action on the Gate dashboard.

Templates that cover more than one waste stream don’t appear here, but they’re not lost — they still show up in the template picker on the normal Create WTN page. Hot Picks is a shortcut for the single-stream case, not a replacement for templates in general. See Quick-Fill Templates for how templates are built.

Tip: Anyone on your team can star a card to bring it to the top. Favourites are shared across the whole team, not just the person who starred it — so agree as a team which routes deserve top billing.

How to Log a Load from a Hot Pick

  1. Open Gate Hot Picks — from Gate’s Quick Actions, or navigate there directly.
  2. Tap a card — each shows the producer, the EWC code and waste name, and either the usual vehicle reg or a hazard badge (POPs, for example) if that template carries one.
  3. Enter today’s weight — Gross (kg) and Tare (kg); Net (kg) calculates automatically.
  4. Confirm or change the Vehicle Reg — it’s pre-filled from the template, but you can overwrite it for this load only. Changing it here doesn’t touch the saved template.
  5. Log Load — creates a complete WTN immediately, using everything else saved on the template.

What’s Fixed vs. What You Enter

Managing Hot Pick Templates

Click Manage Templates from the Gate Hot Picks page to open your WTN Templates. From there you can create a new single-waste-stream template so it appears here, edit an existing one, or convert a Hot Pick back into a multi-stream template — it’ll then only be reachable from the template picker on the normal Create WTN page. Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t my template show up in Hot Picks?

Hot Picks only shows templates that cover a single waste stream. If your template has more than one, it’s still available — just via the template picker on the normal Create WTN page rather than as a card here.

Does logging a Hot Pick still go through Flagged for Review?

No — a Hot Pick creates a complete WTN straight away, since the template already has everything filled in. This is different from Log New Transfer, which drafts a record into Flagged for Review first.

Can I remove my own star from a card?

Yes — tap the star again to unstar it. Since favourites are shared across the team, removing yours affects what everyone sees, so it’s worth a quick check with the team first.

What happens if I change the vehicle reg on a Hot Pick load?

Only that one load uses the new registration — the template itself keeps its originally saved reg for next time.
